Manual handoffs
Practice teams spend time reviewing balances, preparing exports, and coordinating with external partners.
DermCollect is being designed to fit seamlessly into the ModMed interface. Initiate the collection workflow with a DermCollect button in the patient ledger—right after Create a Bill. Once your practice authorizes collection, DermCollect securely gathers the necessary account information and prepares eligible balances for recovery.
Planned ModMed integration · Subject to approval and technical development
Following up on unpaid dermatology balances takes staff time, supporting documentation, and careful handling of patient information. DermCollect is being built to simplify that work.
Practice teams spend time reviewing balances, preparing exports, and coordinating with external partners.
Insurance activity, recent payments, payment plans, and unresolved disputes can change whether a balance is appropriate to place.
Collection outcomes and payment status can be difficult to track and reconcile back to the system of record.
The planned integration puts DermCollect into the interface your team already uses. Click the DermCollect button on the patient account to begin, authorize collection, and let the workflow gather supporting data and flag exceptions for review.
Start from the patient ledger, with a planned button immediately after Create a Bill in ModMed.
Your practice decides whether to proceed. Starting the workflow does not automatically place an account.
Securely gather the minimum necessary balance, payment, and billing documentation. Flag disputes, payment plans, and other exceptions for review.
Prepare approved, eligible accounts for licensed collection partners and track outcomes for reconciliation.
Designed to support HIPAA compliance and help practices manage regulatory risk through secure data handling, documented approvals, and an auditable workflow.
Planned safeguards include business associate agreements, minimum necessary data access, secure transfers, and documented account decisions. These controls reduce risk; they do not eliminate provider liability or guarantee regulatory protection.
The planned experience: after a practice signs up, a Dermcollect button appears immediately after Create a Bill in ModMed Patient Financials. One click starts the workflow. After your practice authorizes collection, DermCollect is designed to gather the necessary supporting account data securely and check eligibility before placement.
Begin from the patient account you are already reviewing, immediately after Create a Bill.
The displayed insurance balance is $0. Older fully adjusted charges are excluded; aging, notices, disputes, and payment arrangements still require verification.
Practice staff review exceptions and approve eligible accounts before transfer to a collection partner. Starting the workflow does not automatically place the account.
Planned functionality, subject to ModMed approval and technical development. No recovery result is claimed for this account. DermCollect is not affiliated with or endorsed by ModMed.
Choose how your practice gets paid: a 7% purchase payment based on the face value of accepted debt, or 25% of actual collections on accepted debt.
DermCollect pays your practice 7% of the accepted debt’s face value. Your payment does not depend on subsequent recoveries.
Payment timing and transfer terms are specified in the purchase agreement. Acceptance is subject to review.
Your practice receives 25% of amounts actually collected on accepted debt. DermCollect retains 75% before its collection costs.
No recovery means no consignment payment. The 20% recovery in this example is an assumption, not a forecast or guarantee.
Proposed commercial terms. Final availability, eligibility, remittance schedules, and permitted structures depend on contracts and applicable law. Only valid, eligible patient obligations are considered; contractual adjustments and forgiven balances are excluded.
Choose your preferred model →DermCollect starts in dermatology because our founding practice has five years of dermatology collection data. That experience informs our approach to unpaid patient balances, account review, and the practical work of recovery.
We are using this foundation to evaluate and refine DermCollect’s model in dermatology. Once we demonstrate repeatable results, our roadmap is to adapt the workflow for other specialties served by ModMed, including ophthalmology and gastroenterology. Expansion would follow specialty-specific validation, integration approvals, and regulatory review.
The five-year data history comes from the founding practice’s collections experience. It is not five years of operating history for the planned DermCollect platform, and outcomes may vary by practice and portfolio.
We're speaking with dermatology practices, revenue-cycle leaders, licensed collection agencies, and integration partners as the pilot program takes shape.
